We currently have vacancies for PWP Trainees to work in the Steps 2 Wellbeing Teams in Poole and Bournemouth. This is an excellent opportunity for people with the appropriate skills to join a highly motivated and committed team.

Our proposed interview dates are 27th and 29th June, and we are likely to be holding interviews in person.

Main duties of the job

Steps to Wellbeing is a busy, dynamic and progressive service with a friendly and supportive team of qualified clinicians and staff in training.

The role itself is both demanding and rewarding; providing psychological interventions to people with mild to moderate common mental health problems in primary care. We are looking for people with enthusiasm and passion to join our service. Good administrative, time management and communication skills are also essential. Experience of working within the NHS service or similar organisation is highly desirable. You would undertake academic training, provided and accredited byUniversity of Southampton. Time would be split between University study and on-job training. The on-job training would include learning about CBT-based self-management for clients suffering from mild to moderate anxiety and/or depression, using a stepped-care approach. All trainees/apprentices will receive intensive supervision and support in their workplace as an integral element of their training. Essential

  • Evidence of ability to study successfully at at level 5
  • GCSE maths and English grade C/grade 4 or above or Functional Skills level 2

Desirable

  • Training in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, counselling or within a psychological therapy
  • Psychology or other health related undergraduate degree

Skills/Experience/Knowledge

  • Evidence of working with people who have experienced a mental health problem
  • Computer literate
  • Demonstrates an understanding of anxiety and depression and how it may present in Primary Care
  • Demonstrates an understanding of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and how it relates to this post
