Job summary

'Are you ready for your next challenge? We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and confident dietitian who can work independently as well as being part of our team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a full time worker for this permanent community role based in Bournemouth. You will be working with adults and children in a variety of settings including GP surgeries, Care Homes, Community Hospitals and in people's own homes. You will be dealing with a variety of conditions including overweight, malnutrition, IBS, food allergy/intolerance, disordered eating and selective eaters. You will be helping to train student dietitians to support the future workforce.

You will be liaising with staff across health and social care services. You may have to attend safeguarding conferences, professionals meetings and team around the child or family meetings.

There will be opportunities to train other professionals in areas such as malnutrition and overweight.

You will be responsible for taking the lead for the department in a specialist area of interest. Training will be offered if required.

The team are friendly and supportive and have regular meetings and supervision. There are also plenty of opportunities for training to ensure you keep up to date for your HCPC registration.

We have 10 dietitians and 4 dietetic assistants plus secretarial support.'

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for a clinical caseload to out-patient clinics in different settings, domiciliary visits and input to care and learning disability homes.

To act as a source of expertise in nutrition and diet therapy advising medical staff and other health professionals. To provide training for health care and non-health care staff.

To be involved in supporting the dietetic assistants within the team with their professional development. Line manage one of the dietetic assistants if required. Contribute to service development, evidence based resources and taking the lead for the department in an area of special interest.

To follow the Trust's policies on safeguarding and to attend training as necessary. To take part in CPD and practice supervision in line with trust policies. Support student dietitians on their placements

  • BSc in Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent
  • HCPC Registered

Desirable

  • Post registration training to masters level e.g. Advanced Diploma in Dietetics, PENG, Specialist Interest Group module e.g. diabetes, NAGE, Paediatrics, teaching qualification.

Job Specific Experience

Essential

  • Wide range of post registration dietetic experience e.g. diabetes, oncology, basic paediatrics, enteral feeding
