Band 5 Staff Nurses - Emergency Department, Wexham Park Hospital

We're looking for enthusiastic Band 5 Registered Nurses--newly qualified nurses are very welcome! You'll be supported through a supernumerary period, structured in-house training, and our comprehensive Preceptorship Programme, with ongoing professional development to help you thrive.

Main duties of the job

  • To work within a multi-disciplinary team, in the delivery of high-quality patient care to patients & relatives.
  • Support shift leader ensuring that all documentation is up to date and report any changes in the patients' condition.
  • To contribute to the development and evaluation of nursing practice.
  • To demonstrate effective communication skills both written and verbal between patients and members of the multi-disciplinary team.
  • To communicate effectively with patients and their relatives. Advice on the promotion of health & prevention of illness.
  • To liaise with appropriate clinical specialists in relation to individual patient needs e.g. Doctors, Occupational therapists, physiotherapists and in-reach matrons.
  • To assist medical staff, ensure that treatments are effective and advise on nursing priorities.
  • To promote good working relationships with the ambulance service, police and other supporting agencies.
  • To act as an advocate for patients and their relatives/carers.
  • To communicate to colleagues' individual needs for support (through preceptorship programme)
  • To understand how your role within the team and the core group impacts on those you encounter, both professional and non-professional.

  • Evidence of dealing with difficult situations in an appropriate manner

  • Post qualification experience in an acute setting

Skills and Knowledge

  • Able to manage time effectively and priorities workload
  • Ability to organise, along with good communication skills, both written and oral
  • Identify patient deterioration promptly and escalate concerns appropriately
