PLEASE NOTE:
- This is a 2-year fixed term position to cover secondment.
- Band 2 to 3 progression dependant on holding NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services, and completion of internal competency program.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our busy and forward-thinking pharmacy team as aPharmacy Dispensary Assistant.
This role is key to supporting the safe, efficient and effective operation of our dispensary, helping us deliver excellent care to our patients.
We are looking for someone who is organised, reliable, and able to work well under pressure.
You will act as a positive role model, working along with other dispensary assistants, contributing to the smooth running of the service, and demonstrating the highest standards of professionalism.
Main duties of the job
Working closely with the Lead Pharmacy Technician, you will:
- Accurately label and dispense prescribed medication to patients.
- Ensure accurate receipt and storage of medication.
- Complete essential daily tasks to maintain safe operations.
- Provide a professional and efficient service to staff, patients, and visitors to the hospital.
- Work alongside a wide variety of healthcare professionals including Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacists, Doctors, and Nurses.

- Educated to GCSE or equivalent, to include English and Mathematics
- To satisfy GPhC requirements you will need to hold or be able to work towards NVQ Level 3 Certificate in Pharmacy Service Skills or have the equivalent level of experience.
- Willing to undertake the Medicines Optimisation training (POD Assessment and Transcribing modules) if not already accredited.
Desirable
- Pro-active at work and willing to undertake training required for the role.

- Ability to be work flexible hours including late evenings, bank holidays and weekends on a rotational basis.

- Able and willing to travel to cross-site if needed.
