Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust is looking to appoint a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in Lower Limb Surgery, with a particular focus on revision knee procedures.

The post will be primarily based at Wexham Park Hospital in Slough, with additional sessions at Heatherwood Hospital in Ascot, our Elective Centre accredited by GIRFT. This role offers an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking, high-performing Trust located to the west of London.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide a comprehensive general trauma service as part of the on-call rota at Wexham Park Hospital.
  • Contribute actively to the Clinical Audit programme, ensuring high standards of clinical governance and continual service improvement.
  • Participate in the Department's Academic and Research activities, supporting ongoing innovation and evidence-based practice within the Orthopaedic Unit.
  • Take an active role in the management and development of the Department, including service planning and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with administrative teams based at Wexham Park and Heatherwood Hospitals, with full access to departmental administrative support.
  • Engage with the Trust's Consultant Mentoring Scheme, designed to support newly appointed consultants as they transition into their role.

This is a full-time position comprising 10 PAs, including participation in the on-call rota at Wexham Park Hospital.

Qualifications

Essential

  • FRCS (Tr&Orth) or FEBOT
  • Full GMC Registration
  • Part III of the Orthopaedic Fellowship intercollegiate examination
  • Entry on Specialist Register (CCT or entry expected within 6 months of interview date)

Desirable

  • Fellowship of the British Orthopaedic Association and membership of BASK group

Experience

Essential

  • Minimum of 6 years training in Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery
  • To have completed recognized fellowship training in revision knee arthroplasty surgery
  • Experience of teaching clinical skills to undergraduates and postgraduates and operative skills to trainee specialists

Desirable

  • A current practical involvement in general trauma management as it applies to Trauma & Orthopaedics
  • Provider or instructor status as within the Royal College Advanced Trauma Life Support System.
  • Proof of having an active and continued knowledge of and experience in practical everyday management of a wide range of orthopaedic disorders.
