Job summary
We are looking for a motivated and detail-focusedAssociate Practitioner to join the Point of Care Testing (POCT) team at Wexham Park Hospital.
This is a key role within our pathology service, supporting the delivery of high-quality, reliable near-patient testing that directly informs clinical decision-making and improves patient outcomes across the organisation.
As part of a collaborative and supportive team, you will help implement, maintain and monitor POCT services, ensuring test results are timely, accurate and compliant with regulatory and governance standards. You will work closely with clinical and laboratory colleagues, providing training, quality assurance and technical support.

Main duties of the job
- Support the delivery of safe, efficient and clinically reliable POCT services across all BSPS POCT sites
- Assist with the implementation, maintenance and ongoing monitoring of POCT devices
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and liaise with manufacturers when required
- Manage stock and consumables within agreed budgets
- Monitor internal and external quality control, undertake audits and escalate non-compliance appropriately
- Support regulatory, accreditation and governance requirements
- Train POCT users, assess competency and maintain accurate training records
- Update and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs)Support the introduction of new technologies and IT connectivity
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and report incidents as required
- Contribute to service delivery across core and non-core hours
