Senior Pharmacy Stores Assistant

Job summary

We are seeking committed and motivated individuals with strong organisational skills to support our distribution team.

The role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work accurately to tight deadlines in a busy and demanding environment.

Good computer literacy and a high level of attention to detail are essential.

Applicants must have previous experience in the receipt and distribution of goods, along with an understanding of related duties.

Main duties of the job

  • To support the Pharmacy Distribution Manager & Deputy Distribution Manager in facilitating a prompt and efficient pharmaceutical ward stock replenishment service.
  • To communicate effectively to pharmacy staff on any issues that arise in respect to the receipt or storage of pharmaceuticals, including discrepancies or anomalies on the pharmacy computer system.
  • To assist in the daily recording and managing of queries within pharmacy stores.
  • To provide cover for the Pharmacy Distribution Manager & Deputy Distribution Manager in the day to day running of pharmacy stores.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • Participate in the distribution of stock medicines and vaccines to wards, departments, community clinics, and external sites to ensure adequate stock levels and minimise wastage.
  • Assist with issuing, checking, and receipting stock orders for Wexham Park, Heatherwood Hospital, and other serviced units.
  • Contribute to ward top-up services, ensuring stock is appropriate, in date, and maintained at agreed levels, including review of ward stock profiles in liaison with ward staff.
  • Support stock management within automated drug cabinets (Omnicell).
  • Liaise with Pharmacy Purchasing to follow up outstanding orders and manage shortages.
  • Assist in monitoring service quality, managing emergency kits, maintaining safe storage conditions, and completing environmental and temperature monitoring records.
  • Support supervision, training, rota cover, record keeping, waste management, SOP compliance, and deputise for senior staff as required.
