Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust

Consultant - Older Persons Medicine and Frailty

The closing date is 12 January 2026

Job summary

A new post has been created within the Medicine for Older People team at Wexham Park following a service reconfiguration. The successful candidate will work across the rehabilitation unit, discharge unit, and the acute frailty service, providing high-quality care to our patients.

We actively encourage special interests and offer opportunities for professional development. If dual-accredited, the post holder will also participate in the General Internal Medicine (GIM) on-call rota. Flexible working requests for less than 10 PAs will be considered.

We welcome applications from doctors with significant experience (12+ years) who do not currently hold CCT. Such candidates may be appointed as Specialist Grade on the relevant pay scale and supported to progress to Consultant level via the CESR (portfolio pathway).

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to work alongside our existing consultants to further develop services for older people and bring their own special interests to enhance our current offerings. This role is ideal for those seeking to join an organisation that is leading the way in delivering truly integrated care.

For dual-accredited candidates, the General Medicine on-call rota is approximately 1:9 weekends, with a less frequent midweek commitment.

  • Weekdays (08:00-17:00): Acute admissions are covered by Acute Medicine consultants.
  • Out of hours (nights and weekends): The on-call consultant physician covers both acute admissions and the wider General Medicine service.

On-call duties attract a 1 PA supplement and one day TOIL for weekend work.
