Early Years Nursery Assistant

Job summary

We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate individual to join our NHS day nursery team, providing high-quality care and support for young children in a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment.

The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver child-centred care in line with NHS values, promote early learning and development, and build strong, respectful relationships with families. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about childcare, committed to safeguarding and wellbeing, and eager to contribute to an inclusive, supportive setting where every child can thrive.

Main duties of the job

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in supporting children's learning and development experiences under the direction and supervision of Room Lead.
  • Assist in delivering learning and development experiences.
  • Communicate effectively.
  • Work under direction.
  • Following procedures.
  • Support and promote the nursery ethos value diversity, provide all children equal opportunity.

Safeguarding and Welfare Responsibilities

  • Comply with legal requirements set out in the Statutory Framework for the Early Years.
  • To ensure that the welfare and safety of children is paramount.
  • The Trust/Nursery adheres to the Slough Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) Procedures, and all employees have a duty of care and a responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.

  • Ready, willing and able approach to the role of supporting assistant to chilren's key practitioners

  • Some practitcal experience of supporting babies and young children's care, development and learning in a full day care setting

Desirable

  • Experience of working in an NHS day nursery
  • Some experience in inplementing the Early Years Foundation Stage for children birth to fivee
  • Basic knowledge of EYFS, observation assessment and planning.

  • Minimum of GCSE Maths and English C/4 or equivalent.
  • Committed to undertake continued professional development (CPD).

Desirable

  • Gained Early Years Level 2 Ofqual Approved Qualification
