Job summary

Community Respiratory Physiotherapist - Development Role

Frimley Adult Integrated Respiratory Service is an award-winning, dynamic service delivering high-quality care, including Royal College of Physicians accredited Pulmonary Rehabilitation programmes. It comprises two teams: Adult Integrated Respiratory (AIR) team in East Berkshire and Respiratory Integrated Team South (RITS), covering North East Hampshire, Farnham and Surrey Heath.

The service supports adults with chronic respiratory conditions to maintain independence and self-manage their health. We provide tailored education, therapy and behaviour-change guidance to optimise respiratory function and wellbeing.

As a Community Respiratory Physiotherapist, you will use advanced clinical reasoning and communication skills to assess and support individuals with long-term respiratory conditions, including those on oxygen therapy. You will deliver holistic, culturally sensitive care, working autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

This community-based role requires travel across Berkshire East to clinics, rehabilitation classes and patients' homes. Weekend working may be required as the service develops a seven-day model. A full UK driving licence and access to a car are essential.

Applications are welcomed from Band 5 and Band 6 Physiotherapists. Band 5 applicants will complete a structured 12-18 month development programme. On achieving required competencies, the role progresses to Band 6.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as an integral member of the physiotherapy team and the wider multi-disciplinary team, delivering high-quality, patient-centred care in a holistic, efficient and cost-effective manner. They will provide assessment, treatment and management to adults with complex respiratory conditions across a range of community settings.

The role requires flexibility to work in other designated Trust locations in addition to the primary base. The post holder must be able to travel between sites across Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust as required. Flexible working hours--including some unsocial hours--and participation in a weekend working rota may be necessary as the service moves towards seven-day working.

The Physiotherapist will work both autonomously and collaboratively, with support and supervision from senior physiotherapists. They will apply advanced clinical knowledge, effective communication and strong interpersonal skills to assess and address the needs of a diverse and complex respiratory caseload, always working safely and within their professional scope of practice.
