  • We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and experienced Biomedical Scientist to join our Haematology and Blood Transfusion department within one of the largest NHS-led Pathology Services in the South of England.

Main duties of the job

o As a Biomedical Scientist, you will work within the Haematology and Blood Transfusion team to deliver a high-quality, patient-focused diagnostic service. o You will rotate through Haematology, Coagulation, and Blood Transfusion, analysing and validating patient samples using advanced analysers such as the Abbott Alinity H, Werfen ACL TOP, and IBG Iris systems. o Duties include performing IQC/EQA, maintaining equipment, adhering to Health & Safety and COSHH regulations, and ensuring accurate documentation. o You will support the QMS through audits, non-conformance reporting, and corrective actions, participate in staff training and service improvement initiatives, and work flexibly as part of the 24- hour diagnostic rota to ensure timely results and continuity of care.

  • BSc in Biomedical sciences
  • HCPC registration in Biomedical sciences
  • Evidence of CPD

Desirable

  • MSc in Biomedical sciences
  • Specialist portfolio in haematology/BT or blood sciences
  • ECDL
  • IBMS associate

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in a relevant medical laboratory.
  • Able to follow Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Evidence of maintenance of practical skills.
  • Experience in working in a lab.
  • Awareness of Pathology H&S procedures.
  • Complies with local Trust H&S procedures.
  • Ability to organise own work to fit with departmental or section rotas.
  • Ability to work to departmental or section deadlines.
  • Understanding of robust quality management system, internal & external.
  • Understanding of relationship between laboratory investigations and clinical practice especially knowing when to escalate and when to ask for help in making clinical decisions.
