The closing date is 11 August 2025

Job summary

Overview

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest acute Trusts in the South East and is renowned for its excellent clinical care and friendly atmosphere. The Breast Unit at Frimley Park Hospital manages around 350 breast cancers a year in a multidisciplinary setting.

The research fellow position is aimed at motivated doctors of FY2-CST 2 level or equivalent. Ideally, the candidate will be in possession of full GMC registration and have prior experience in breast surgery or oncology; as the post does not involve direct clinical care, doctors who are not GMC registered and are looking to get NHS experience will be considered for the post.

This is a new position aiming to enhance research and improve quality of breast surgical care with opportunities to carry out new research with focus on patient-reported outcomes after surgical procedures. There are several established, on-going research projects and the opportunity to initiate new research based on individual interests. The fellow will be involved in quality improvement projects including the development of patient pathways, and Trust guidelines.

The post is expected to be for 12 months with possibility to extend for another year. The post offers the level and breadth of research experience necessary for applying to core or higher medical or surgical training. The successful applicant will be expected to work for 24 hours per week.
