Junior Sister/Charge Nurse

Job summary

As a junior sister/charge nurse in Parkside outpatients you are expected to be an experienced nurse and have previous outpatient experience.

You will be clinical on the department for the majority of your working week with some administrative time allocated for you to complete delegated tasks including off duty and audits.

You will be responsible for supporting our junior team and expected to assist consultants with their clinics including procedure lists. Ideally you will also have previous experience in pre operative clinics.

You will be well organised with excellent communication and leadership skills.

Main duties of the job

  • Organisation of the department day to day
  • Reviewing skill mix to ensure clinics are appropriately covered and capacity is utilised to the fullest
  • Completing off duty
  • Stock ordering
  • Wound reviews (including Removal of sutures/clips)
  • Phlebotomy
  • IM Injections
  • Cystoscopies and bladder instillations
  • Hysteroscopy clinics
  • Colposcopy clinics
  • RFA procedures
  • Assisting with minor procedures
  • Undertaking face to face and telephone pre operative assessments

  • Minor operations in a outpatient setting
  • Pre operative clinic experience
  • Competent using EPIC
  • Competent in assisting with gynae procedures

Management experience

  • Able to review skill mix and complete off duty to maximise the effectiveness of the team
