Medicine Healthcare Science Associate Practitioner Cardiology

Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for Healthcare Science Associates to join our Cardiology team at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust.

The successful candidates will work within Frimley Trust's 3 main hospital sites which are all 3 busy cardiac departments.

You will be part of a superbly efficient team who analyse complex recordings of varying lengths and act appropriately on the reports. Upload all remote recordings from externalcompanies (GPs) and review and check reports.

You will work as a team member within cardiac clinical physiology services and without supervision to undertake basic cardiac clinical physiology procedures e.g. recording electrocardiograms (ECGs), Holter Monitors and Blood Pressure applications .

You will assist the cardiac Clinical Physiologists in more complex cardiac physiology procedures e.g. implantable cardiac monitors, cardiac exercise tolerance testing and tilt table testing.

You will work to the standards set by the Society for Cardiological Science and Technology (SCST) and British Cardiac Society (BCS).

Main duties of the job

  • Contribute to the maintenance of safe working practices within the department, ensuringcompliance with all Health and Safety legislation, other relevant legislation, and Trustpolicies.
  • Contribute to the day to day running of the department, including appointment provisionand stock control.
  • Undertake administrative tasks to maintain operational systems within the department.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of departmental computer systems (EPIC system).
  • Plan and prioritise own workload.

  • Perform diagnostic quality 12-lead electrocardiograms (ECGs) and Ambulatory ECGs in wards/departments throughout the organisation to obtain physiological data from patients (adults, children and neonates)
  • Without supervision set up, apply and instruct in the use of Ambulatory blood pressure (BP) and longer term patient activated monitors on inpatients and outpatients.
  • Without Supervision set up, apply and instruct the use of Holter Monitors ( 24hr,48hr,72hr), and 14 day tapes
  • Assist Cardiac Physiologists during procedures with high risk of patient adverse events e.g. Exercise Tolerance Tests and Tilt Table Tests
