This post is part of the KSS Deanery BSMS Leadership and Education Fellowship (LEF) Programme and is jointly funded by NHS England working across Kent, Surrey and Sussex Deanery (KSS Deanery), Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS) and Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust.
This fellowship is an opportunity for a resident doctor, at ST1-ST5 level, with a keen interest in medical education, leadership, and palliative and end of life care. The postholder will be responsible for reviewing, developing, and delivering end-of-life care training for resident doctors at Frimley Park Hospital.
The fellow will work closely with the Palliative Care Team, Medical Education Faculty, and Simulation Leads to create engaging and innovative training methods, including simulation scenarios and communication workshops. A key focus of this role is enhancing cultural competence in end-of-life care, particularly addressing the needs of the local community.
Main duties of the job
This is a 0.6 WTE post jointly funded by Health Education England working across Kent, Surrey and Sussex (HEE KSS) as part of the Multi-Professional Fellow Programme which aims to bring benefits to the healthcare system in KSS in relation to priority areas including differential attainment, Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) and leadership development.
The role has a key focus on developing the postholder's own leadership and education capability. This will be achieved through the work-based project(s) and a bespoke development programme including the Post Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Leadership and Commissioning at BSMS, which will start on 1 Oct 2025 for one year.
