Staff Nurse - Outpatients

Job summary

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Staff Nurse to join our Outpatients team based at Wexham Park Hospital, part of Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust. This role is ideal for a nurse with excellent organisational, leadership, and interpersonal skills, capable of delivering high-quality patient care while supporting a busy and varied clinical environment.

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, undertaking both clinical and administrative duties to ensure the smooth and efficient running of outpatient services. Previous outpatient experience is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.

Frimley North Outpatients operates across four sites:

  • Wexham Park Hospital, Slough (base)

  • King Edward VII - Parapet Breast Unit, Windsor

  • St Mark's Hospital, Maidenhead

Working hours are between 08:00 and 18:30, Monday to Saturday. Flexibility is required, as you may be asked to work across sites depending on service needs.

Outpatient services include a wide range of specialties such as Oncology, ENT, Rheumatology, Orthopaedics, Breast, Gastroenterology, Colorectal, Trauma, Allergy, Cardiology, Ophthalmology, and Sleep Clinic.

Main duties of the job

Clinical:Provide clinical leadership, supporting the senior team in delivering high standards of evidence-based care, treatments, and procedures tailored to patients' needs. Maintain a strong understanding of infection prevention principles, consistently applying aseptic technique and complying with Frimley Health Infection Control policies. Ensure accurate, timely documentation of patient records in line with trust policies, digital strategy, and data protection regulations (GDPR). Recognise and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition, escalating concerns promptly to the Nurse-in-Charge and reporting incidents via the In Phase system.

Leadership:Actively contribute to the achievement of team, departmental, and organisational goals, ensuring a high-quality patient experience. Oversee the safe storage and rotation of drugs and consumables. Support, supervise, and assess students, learners, junior, and temporary staff, ensuring effective onboarding and practice. Undertake relevant administrative tasks as required to maintain safe, efficient service delivery.

Training:Engage fully in all mandatory training, supervision, and appraisal processes, maintaining professional development and compliance with trust standards.
