Job summary

This role at Eden Day Unit - Wexham Park Hospital is ideal for a Band 5 nurse looking to advance into a Junior Sister position within cancer and chemotherapy services. The position is open to qualified nurses, including those with acute trust experience or existing chemotherapy/cancer expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide high standards of care for patients undergoing intensive chemotherapy.Coordinate the daily patient list and allocate workloads.Administer chemotherapy safely and efficiently.Triage patients using the UKONS system.

Main duties of the job

o Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individual patient care with minimal supervision.o To work as part of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure that treatments are correctly carried out in accordance with given policy.o Responsible for the assessment of complex care needs of chemotherapy patients and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care.o Lead and monitor the performance and standards of care within the Nursing Team.o Work collaboratively with the other members of cancer services team to facilitate the development of the service

  • Current NMC Registration

Desirable

  • Trained in the administration of chemotherapy

Experience and Knowledge

  • Competent in basic life support and IV administration
  • Acute Medical Nursing Environment
  • Teaching and supervising of junior staff
  • Effective working with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Working with EPR system

Desirable

  • Experienced in working in oncology
  • Has experience or training with administration of chemotherapy

  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to manage difficult / stressful situations
