Job summary

The post holder will be an experienced Radiographer working autonomously, being accountable for your own professional actions. You will supervise, mentor and appraise less experienced CT Radiographers, Apprentices and Students.

The role requires cross-site working across all sites: Wexham Park Hospital in Slough, Heatherwood Elective Centre in Ascot, and the soon-to-be-opened Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC ) in Slough at the site of Upton Hospital.

Main duties of the job

  • A senior Radiographer post working in the CT Department.
  • Responsible for supporting the CT Lead Radiographer and deputising in their absence.
  • To assist in the training and supervision of the Radiographers and RDAs across the 4 CT scanners at FHFT North and the 2 CT Scanners at the new CDC.
  • To ensure equipment is used in a safe and correct manner.
  • The post holder will be expected to work at all sites.
  • Commitment to shift work over a 7-day period including night shifts.

  • To ensure that image quality is of a high standard and audit this as appropriate.
  • To work in accordance with the local rules, Ionising Radiation regulations, Health and Safety at Work Act, Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations, and the Trusts Policies and Procedures.
  • To report promptly any equipment faults to the CT Lead Radiographer.
  • To ensure that patient care and comfort is always maintained to the highest professional standard.
  • To liaise with equipment manufacturers and users and arrange for repair and servicing equipment when required.
  • To participate in Clinical Audit when required.
  • Responsible for maintaining CPD and own level of competence.
  • Assist with developing Radiographers training in all aspects of the service.
  • Assist with mentoring, induction, and appraisal of staff.
  • To maintain professional standards in accordance with the College of Radiographers policy.
  • To work under IR(ME)R regulations.
  • To take responsibility for own personal development and education.
  • To actively participate in training programmes for all members of staff.

  • D.C.R. or B.Sc. Radiography or equivalent
  • HCPC Registration
  • Evidence of CPD
  • SoR Accredited IV Course Certificate
