Job summary
We are looking for a substantive Consultant Cardiac Electrophysiologist to join the team at Wexham Park Hospital. The job is a full time post comprising of 10 Programmed Activities (PAs).
The Consultant Cardiac Electrophysiologist post will join the existing team of 11 Cardiologists. The Consultant team comprises 5 Interventionalists, 2 Electrophysiologists (cross site), 2 heart failure and device consultants and 2 imaging Consultants delivering all emergency, acute and elective care for inpatients and outpatient at Wexham park.
At Wexham Park Hospital we have two cardiac catheter laboratories. We currently undertake daily device procedures for bradycardia, ICD and CRT indications and perform EP cases (SVT, flutter and AV node ablation) with plans to start AF ablation in 2025. We run a busy interventional service including provision of 24 hour primary PCI and a full range of adjunctive technologies. We have 2 dedicated Cardiac device lists for Brady pacing, ICD implantation and CRT devices.
Main duties of the job
The post holder's core skills would allow them to provide cover for inpatient care in CCU and the Cardiology ward. The post holder will also participate in the Consultant of the week Rota in which they will be responsible for daily Consultant led ward rounds of our 14 bedded CCU and in reaching into key areas within the hospital to provide specialist opinions as required. The candidates job plan will consist of 2 general Cardiology clinics (1 face to face clinic and 1 virtual clinic) there will also be 1 sessions of 'Advice & Guidance' and triaging of electronic referrals to work collaboratively with Primary care. There will also be 1 full Cath Lab Day per week for Cardiac Electrophysiology

- MRCP or equivalent through EEC rules
- Possession of CCT of within six months of receipt
- Full GMC registration
- Understanding of the structures of NHS hospitals and willing to play a role in the department and in the hospital
Desirable
- Higher degree (for example MD or PhD)
Professional, Specialist, and Functional experience
Essential
- Angiography, PCI, and primary PCI experience
- ALS
- Willingness to be involved in teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level
- Understand principles and participated in audit activity
