Catering Assistant - Wexham Park Hospital

? Location: Wexham Park Hospital? Contract: 12-Month Fixed-Term? Hours: 37.5 hours per week (5 days out of 7)

Additional Information

? As part of the recruitment process, you'll complete a Maths and English assessment, which must be passed to progress to an interview.? You'll work across Caf Glade, Crossroad, and Courtyard Restaurant, contributing to an efficient and welcoming catering service.? You'll help maintain the Trust's values, ensuring the privacy and dignity of all patients, staff, and visitors.

Main duties of the job

Your Role as a Catering Assistant

On a typical day, you'll:? Serve food and drinks in staff dining areas and patient meal services? Assist in food preparation, including salad prep, portion control, and food presentation? Deliver and collect meal trolleys to and from wards? Operate tills and handle cash transactions in our retail areas? Maintain high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and hygiene

You'll also work closely with our Caf Supervisor to enhance our catering services, ensuring that all customers receive a warm, welcoming, and professional experience.

Key Responsibilities Food Service Duties:

Prepare food service areas and equipment, ensuring everything is ready for use (e.g. woks, fryers, etc.) Serve food and drinks in patient and staff dining areas, as well as on the patient meal assembly belt Ensure a full supply of crockery and cutlery in the restaurant throughout service hours Deliver and collect meal trolleys to and from wards and departments Distribute catering supplies to wards and departments, including call orders Assist with menu collation, ensuring accurate picking and recording of ward food choices

Food Preparation Duties:

Assist in food preparation, including peeling vegetables, preparing salad items, traying up, and labelling food Maintain portion control and manage food waste, ensuring accurate record-keeping Decant chilled food and assist with food regeneration and garnishing Strictly follow standard recipes and production methods, ensuring all food meets quality, hygiene, and HACCP standards

Cash Handling Duties:

Operate tills in retail areas, ensuring correct handling of cash and vouchers Maintain accurate cash records, balancing till receipts and accounting for any discrepancies Follow all NHS cash handling and security procedures Resolve customer queries professionally, offering refunds or replacements as needed and escalating where necessary
