Job summary
Working within a Respiratory Multi-disciplinary Team to promote and support the running of the community Adult Integrated Respiratory (AIR) Service
The aims of the service, and so the technician, are to promote Respiratory patient independence and improved self management. This will include support, education and often facilitation of behaviour change through therapy.
The postholder will have a wide ranging role, bridging supervised and non-supervised clinical input (patient contact) with administration and organisation to ensure smooth running of the Respiratory Physiotherapy Services alongside the Physiotherapists and Nurses. These services include Pulmonary Rehabilitation (assessment clinics, face to face classes and remote facilitation through phone contact and online platforms), Maintenance Classes, Ambulatory Oxygen Clinic and Respiratory Physiotherapy Domiciliary and Outpatient services.
Non-clinically; the post holder will be providing administrative support. This administrative support will be patient centred and varied, but could be up to 50% of your week. This will include waiting list management, booking appointments, filling classes, setting up the sessions, assisting with assessment, completing documentation, issuing letters, maintaining the database, and any other organisational tasks required by the service.
The service is working towards a seven day service.
Main duties of the job
Under the direction of a registered physiotherapist with or without direct supervision to supervise, guide and progress patients independently during Pulmonary Rehabilitation programmes, whether these be remotely or face to face, working safely and within scope of practice at all times.
Be responsible for the organisation of Pulmonary Rehabilitation programmes with administrative support; including waiting list management, booking appointments, filling classes, setting up the session, assisting with assessment, completing documentation, issuing letters, maintaining the database, and any other organisational tasks required by the service.
