Berkshire Surrey Pathology Services (BSPS) is a mature, successful pathology network which is a contractual joint venture between the following Trusts:
- Ashford and St. Peter's NHS Foundation Trust
- Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust
- Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust
- Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust
- Surrey & Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust
As Deputy General Manager you will have a key leadership role and be responsible for the operational delivery of all aspects of Blood Sciences for Berkshire and Surrey Pathology Service Network. You will form part of the Blood Sciences leadership team, working in partnership with the General Manager, Deputy General Managers, Business Managers, Finance and HR and will play a fundamental role in driving forward the departments vision for service improvement and quality.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will report to the General Manager and will provide appropriate support to the General Manager and the Clinical Leads and Site Managers in the delivery of all operational functions within Blood Sciences at our Royal Berkshire Hospital (RBH) and Ashford Saint Peters Hospital (ASPH) sites. The individual will have responsibility for defined services and allocated resources. A specific key requirement of this post is to support the Biochemistry department with your specialist knowledge and skills, assuring the quality of the Blood Sciences service within the network. You will also be responsible for the overarching operational delivery of the BSPS pathology services at the Royal Berkshire Foundation trust hospital, working closely with the BSPS deputy General Managers of the respective pathology services, in addition to senior trust management team at Royal Berkshire Foundation Trust Hospital.
Under the Blood Sciences General Managers leadership, the Deputy General Manager will:
- Be accountable to the General Manager for the operational performance of the department's services.
- Lead the site management team across RBH and ASPH Trusts
- Be accountable for delivery of financial targets for the departments services
- Ensure excellent quality throughout the Blood Sciences teams
- Deputies for the General Manager
