Job summary
A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join the Cystic Fibrosis (CF) team in an exciting new band 7 Specialist Cystic Fibrosis Diabetes Dietitian role.
We are looking for an experienced Diabetes Dietitian with an interest in CF to become an integral part of our dedicated CF team.
The post is for 0.4 WTE to manage and lead diabetes care in people with CF, working closely alongside 2 experienced specialist CF dietitians, providing high quality, evidence based, individualised care and treatment in the inpatient, outpatient and community settings. The postholder will provide specialist advice, support, and education to patients, carers and other healthcare professionals, as well as contributing to the ongoing development of clinical practice and audit.

Main duties of the job

- To lead, develop and provide a specialist diabetes dietetic service for adults with CFD. The service covers inpatients, outpatients and community care.
- To jointly lead the continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) service with the CF dietitians to screen for CFD and monitor treatment efficacy in those with an existing diagnosis of CFD.
- To assess, plan and implement specialist diabetes therapy to meet patients' clinical needs in conjunction with the CF team and diabetes team. This will include dietary, oral medication, insulin and pump therapies.
- To act as a key contact in providing specialist CF diabetes advice and education for patients, families, carers and support healthcare professionals at Frimley Park Hospital Adult CF centre.
- To initiate and undertake research and clinical audit.
- To contribute towards achieving diabetes National Service Framework and CF Trust standards.
- To have an in-depth knowledge of all statutory guidance.
- To be responsible for maintaining and enhancing professional standards of diabetes care.
- To act as a specialist diabetes resource for medical and nursing staff and allied health care professionals.
