Job summary

An excellent opportunity has arisen to join the department of Paediatrics at Wexham Park Hospital, Frimley Health Foundation Trust as a Senior Clinical Fellow. Two posts are available.

The posts are based at Wexham Park Hospital and would be on an initial 12 month contract (to be reviewed after 3 months).

The Paediatric department at Wexham Park Hospital is well respected within region having been awarded training department of the year twice since the awards started in 2017.

These posts have arisen as we aim to increase middle grade cover at night, by working to 2 middle grade resident model, and as such it will involve an ability to work on both the paediatric and neonatal units.

Applicants should have full GMC registration and license to practice and should have MRCPCH membership.

Main duties of the job

The Paediatric Department works as a single department across the Paediatric and neonatal units and is part of Frimley Health NHS Trust. We are a friendly department which has been well recognised as a supportive place to work by paediatric trainees in the Oxford region. We provide in-patient general paediatric and neonatal care on the Wexham site and outpatient services at Brants Bridge in Bracknell and St Marks Hospital in Maidenhead.

FY2/ST1-3 Trainees are on a full shift and are organised in separate teams for General Paediatrics and for Neonates. At night currently, there are always 2 FY2/ST1-3 trainees and 1 middle grade resident, plus consultant cover. The general ward & neonatal unit are separated by a single door allowing good registrar support across both sides of the department. At weekends there are 2 Consultants each morning with, 2 middle grades and 3 FY2/ST1-3 until 22.00 with extra middle grade support until midnight.
