Job summary
The Fellowship is aimed at senior trainees who are in possession of the FRCA (or equivalent) or CCT holders seeking specialised training in regional anaesthesia. The Fellowship can be adapted to support the Fellow in developing specific interests. The post is for 6-12 months commencing February 2024 or August 2024. The achievements of the previous Fellows include research, international level presentations, teaching, audit, introduction of new services, and excellent logbook block numbers.
Candidates must have previous experience of working as an anaesthetist in UK in addition to full GMC registration.
Main duties of the job
The exact timetable will be tailored to comply with the Fellow's specific interests. The Fellow will take part in the junior on call rota, providing on call for the intensive care unit, theatres or obstetrics as required by the department.
The achievements of the previous Fellows include research, international level presentations, teaching, audit, introduction of new services, and excellent logbook block numbers.
About us
Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest acute Trusts in the South East and is renowned for its excellent clinical care and friendly atmosphere. Frimley Park Hospital has a large anaesthetic department (54 consultant anaesthetists and 6 SAS doctors) and one of the largest trauma and orthopaedic departments in South East England.
A new elective surgical hub based at Heatherwood Hospital in Ascot has recently been opened. Peripheral regional anaesthesia is practised widely for orthopaedic procedures, including awake hand and shoulder surgery.
Ultrasound guided regional anaesthesia is also performed for other surgical specialities including vascular, breast and colorectal. Regional anaesthesia ambulatory pathways for breast surgery and joint arthroplasty have recently been established resulting in the successful discharge of a patient within 24 hours after a total knee replacement. Frimley has a dynamic acute pain team with established pathways for management of patients with fractured ribs or lower limb amputation.
