An excellent opportunity has arisen to join the well-establish and innovative Frimley Health Foundation Trust Community Respiratory Service. We are looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Physiotherapist who is committed to delivering and ensuring others deliver excellent, evidence based respiratory care. You will be part of a senior team of nurses, physiotherapists, nursing associates, associate practitioners, physio technicians and administrative staff to deliver care for people with chronic respiratory illness in the place of choice.
You will work as a part of an integrated respiratory team that covers community and secondary care being involved in the management and delivery of the Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Respiratory Physiotherapy and Oxygen Service. However, you will also be expected to deliver physiotherapy service (chest clearance) as part of the admission avoidance and supported discharge service. You will participate in evidence-based audit and research projects to develop the service.
This role will provide you with a wide variety of experience and skills enhancing your professional portfolio. We offer a comprehensive induction program and actively support ongoing learning.
The role is a predominantly Monday - Friday with the hours being 9-5, although there might be required in the future to work flexible and/or unsocial hours.
Main duties of the job
The post holder occupies an essential role in the multi-disciplinary Respiratory service working with the community and secondary health care providers.
The postholder will be involved in the active management of patients suffering from chronic lung diseases and will support them and their families and carers to develop self- care strategies with the specific aim of improving patient function and health related quality of life.
They will work as a part of integrated respiratory team that covers community and secondary care and will be responsible for the organisation, co-ordination, management and delivery of the Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Respiratory Outpatient and Domiciliary Physiotherapy and Oxygen Service.
The post holder will be expected to utilise excellent clinical, communication and interpersonal skills to identify the needs of people with respiratory disease and deliver care that recognises social, cultural, and spiritual differences. This includes providing highly specialised advice, guidance, training and information to patients, health and social care professionals, carers and relatives and other non-professionals.

- Be able to demonstrate a broad base of respiratory competencies at Band 7 level including general medical, Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Respiratory Outpatients and Oxygen Therapy
- Evidence of a role in the supervision of less experienced staff, students and assistants
- Previous experience of working in the NHS or equivalent and are familiar with the NHS system and the role of the autonomous medical physiotherapist in both clinical and non-clinical role.
- Experience of treating the breathless patient
Desirable
- Previous experience of working as a Respiratory Band 7 physiotherapist within an MDT setting
- Experience in treating dysfunctional breathing
- Experience in performing oxygen assessments
