Frimley Health Foundation Trust has an exciting fixed-term vacancy for Band 7 Specialist Dietitian in Critical Care and/or Surgery. This fixed term band 7 vacancy can be split into two roles, allowing flexibility for those who are interested to apply for one part-time or both roles to make up a full time role, as per interest and clinical experience. Specialist Critical Care Dietitian - 3 days per week
The role will cover a 12 bedded intensive care unit and work as part of the MDT. The successful applicant will support the leadership of the department, attendance at clinical governance, training of other healthcare professionals and linking with the intensive care dietetic services across the Trust.
Specialist Surgical Dietitian - 2 days per week
This role will work alongside the surgical team lead to lead on specialist assessment, treatment and management of a complex clinical caseload in surgery, incorporating skills in oral, enteral and parenteral nutrition. The role will act as an expert resource for parenteral nutrition ensuring that we meet good quality standards for the patient group receiving this treatment.
Our department is a dynamic, well-established team with dietitians working in multiple specialities. The department has a focus on working together as a team and supporting colleagues in their training and development.
Main duties of the job
- To be responsible for developing and establishing dietetic services for critical care patients/unit within Wexham Park Hospital.
- To be responsible for service development, update and implement guidelines to set and monitor standards of practice
- To act as a specialist resource for the Critical Care multi-disciplinary team(s) and Dietitians within Frimley Health Foundation Trust
- To take a lead role and be responsible for the advanced assessment, treatment and management of patients on Critical Care and associated paperwork. These patients have highly complex and/or chronic presentation
- To undertake evidence based projects, including recommendations for changes in practice and to develop research and audit in this clinical area
- To provide an effective high quality service within the critical care speciality and take a lead role in supporting and teaching other department Dietitians as required.
- To provide an assessment, treatment and management of patients within other specialities during periods of annual leave and other specialities on a required basis.
- To contribute to continued development, efficiency and safety of dietetic department
- To deputise for the Dietetic leads in times of absence, providing supervision of Dietitians and facilitating team caseload management and staffing levels.
- To be flexible in times of increased capacity to the service
