Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative professional to complement the current team of five Emergency Stroke Nurse Specialists to help us continue to deliver a high performing service 24/7. The successful applicant will work alongside our stroke consultants and multidisciplinary team, emergency department (ED), and will have close links with neuroradiology. The post holder will contribute to all aspects of stroke care and particularly early assessment in ED, thrombolysis, hyper-acute stroke unit, TIA clinics and GP referrals. We also having a growing research portfolio and encourage applicants with an interest in research and education as well as the opportunities to increase your experience and knowledge in advancing your career in this specialist area of stroke

Frimley Park Hospital is an excellent hospital offering hyper Acute Stroke Care, stroke rehabilitation and TIA in Surrey in Surrey, Berkshire, Hampshire and Buckinghamshire. We see over 1500 referrals into the stroke service per year.

Frimley Park Hospital has a well-deserved reputation for good quality stroke care and we have consistently achieved excellent outcomes for our patients. Stroke is a strategic priority for the Trust as we believe our patients deserve the very best. Our thrombectomy provider is St George's University Hospital, London and we are their largest external referrer for thrombectomy.

Main duties of the job

Receiving referrals from paramedics GP, ED and other referral sources

Early assessment of the patient in an emergency setting, receive of stroke and giving life saving treatment

Ensuring the patient gets to the stroke unit as quickly as possible

Working with the stroke consultant and the rest of the stroke MDT to provide excellent stroke care
