Job summary
This job is for a fixed term Consultant Neurologist at Frimley Park Hospital. The job is a full-time post comprising 10 Programmed Activities (PAs). The term will be for 6 months, extendable, by mutual agreement, to 12 months.
Main duties of the job
5.25 PAs general neurology outpatient clinics at FPH, with the possibility of one being a specialty clinic in epilepsy or multiple sclerosis. 1.5 PAs Ward referral sessions
As clinical admin demands build up the timetable can be reviewed.
An interest in epilepsy or multiple sclerosis would be desirable but not essential, as candidates with interests that complement the current four neurologists will be considered. This appointment will provide 9.25 sessions at Frimley Park Hospital and 0.75 at AMW (3 Fridays a month with 1 Friday at FPH). There could be an opportunity for the successful appointee to develop or take part in a specialist clinic at the regional centre, according to clinical interest. As this is a locum post this would depend on a number of factors which would require further discussion in both Trusts and cannot be guaranteed at appointment.
Three in 4 weeks, 4 days are scheduled at FPH and one at St George's for the Grand Round. For one in 4 weeks (with internal cover) 5 days will be at Frimley as Friday clinic and ward cover is on a shared rota with the substantive consultants. It is likely that one or more clinics will be at a peripheral site or conducted by telephone.
