Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic band 3 endoscopy support worker to join our friendly team in the Endoscopy Department.
You will need to have the flexibility to work a variable shift between 0800- 1900 pattern including weekends to provide a 7day service Frimley Park Hospital as required.
This will support you to gain relevant knowledge, skills and experience that will help you achieve your potential in this role.
Main duties of the job
As a member of the multidisciplinary team the post holder will contribute to the delivery of patients' individual care under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse.
The Endoscopy Support Worker demonstrates a level of skill and understanding which enables them to undertake specific tasks delegated by the nurse in charge and in accordance with relevant procedures, guidelines and policies. She /he will undertake both routine and specially identified tasks for which they have been trained and assessed as competent.There is the opportunity to develop within the role and undertake further training and development.To act as a role model and mentor for student nurses and colleagues.
To assist endoscopist with different type of endoscopy procedures.

- To assist endoscopist during diagnostic procedure.
- To undertake skilled nursing activities for which training and competency assessment has been undertaken.
- To manage airway of sedated patient during procedures.
- To be able to assist an endoscopist with equipment during Gastro Intestinal bleeding cases.
- Undertake venous cannulation.
- Able to perform an ECG.
- To be able to recover patients who have had sedation and/or local anaesthesia/deep sedation as directed by clinical staff.
- To be able to participate on an on-call rota.
- To be able to decontaminate endoscope as per the required standards.
- To demonstrate good communication skills when dealing with patients, relatives and members of the multidisciplinary team utilizing sensitivity, empathy and ability to manage conflict.
- To demonstrate initiative and the ability to recognise/identify changes in a patients condition/treatment and report promptly to the registered nurse and medical staff as appropriate.
- Report any concerns regarding patients well-being or safety to the nurse in charge.
