Job summary

Responsible for the effective operational day to day management of designated areas within the hotel services department.

Support the Senior Hotel Services Manager providing efficient and effective Housekeeping, portering, switchboard/reception, patients and retail catering. Ensuring the services provided meet the required standards such as National Standards of Cleanliness 2021, Food Safety 1990 and Health Safety 1974 and Environmental Health regulations.

The post-holder will be required to liaise with ward/department managers on a regular basis to discuss service issues and make recommendations for change to the Senior Hotel Services Manager that will improve service delivery within their designated area of responsibility

Main duties of the job

Operational Management to include full line management responsibilities and responsibility for the delivery of a quality service, always ensuring compliance with departmental operating procedures and standards agreed in the specification and budget.Line Management responsibilities for performance, conduct, attendance, absence and effective roster management ensuring compliance with operational procedures, policies and standards.To produce and maintain work schedules, planning for work programs and to update the work specification appropriately.To represent their department at outbreak/infection control meetings and to implement agreed actions.Ensure that all statutory and quality standards are maintained within housekeeping, portering, switchboard, reception, catering including ward food provision through appropriate management and monitoring of service and general facilities operating procedures and applications.Making recommendations/new ideas for improvements, leading on their implementation within areas of responsibility once agreed.To carry out workplace inspections of the environment, risk assessments and quality audits on a regular basis.

The post holder will be responsible to manage the staff sickness in accordance with the sickness policy.

Annual leave management of the hotel services department, ensuring the staff are taking annual in line with the policy.
