Job summary
Parkside are looking for a Pre-assessment Sister/ Charge Nurse to provide our pre-assessment service for Private patients. You will work closely with our Surgeons and Consultant Anaesthetists to ensure patients are prepared for surgery.
As Sister/Charge Nurse, you will be working closely with the Senior Sister and Matron, playing an integral role in driving changes with comprehensive orientation and support.
Essential skills key to this role are implementing and maintaining high clinical standards whilst caring for patients, enhancing staff personal development, providing guidance, support and expertise to clinical staff.

Main duties of the job
- To plan, implement, deliver and evaluate nursing care within the OPD setting.
- To be responsible for ensuring high standards of patient care.
- To maintain accurate nursing records, ensuring relevant information and outcomes are documented in the appropriate manner and in accordance with Trust policy.
- Maintain patient confidentiality/adhere to Trust IG Policy.
- To ensure safe and appropriate discharge from the department following consultation/treatment.
- To develop skills in order to carry out treatments and procedures specific to OPD including the use of all departmental medical devices.
- Complete nurse - led pre-assessments for all elective surgery, liaising with the Consultant Surgeons and Consultant anaesthetists.
- Ensure all pre-assessment tests are completed in a timely manner.
- To be aware of legislation regarding Health and Safety and COSHH and to act accordingly.
- Assist Practice Development Staff in auditing of patient care and service delivery in order to ensure the highest standards of care.
- To demonstrate a sound knowledge of the principles of infection control and the highest standards when performing aseptic techniques.
- To ensure correct storage and rotation of drugs within the department.
- To administer treatments safely, providing information about side effects and ensuring information is up to date and relevant..
