Job summary
Our dispensary lead technician role is vital in leading the team of technicians and assistants within the dispensary, to ensure a high quality, efficient and safe service is provided to our patients and staff.
You will be proactive in developing and managing the dispensary service, in conjunction with the dispensary manager, other lead technicians and the wider pharmacy operational team.
Main duties of the job
- To manage the day to day running of the Dispensary in conjunction with the dispensary manager, including preparing rotas, planning training, following up queries and allocation/delegation of daily tasks to meet the needs of the department.
- To label, dispense, accuracy check and provide counselling and advice on the use of medications to patients and staff.
- To be actively involved in the recruitment and selection of staff.
- To develop the role of the dispensary assistants, ensuring adequate training is provided.
- To monitor and maintain storage areas of drugs within the department to ensure correct safe storage of medications including ambient, refrigerated, flammable and controlled drugs.
