Job summary
This post is for a Consultant General Physician with an interest in Rheumatology. This post holder will have joint Rheumatology and General Medical responsibilities. The job is a fulltime post to cover maternity leave. Applicants who wish to work less than full time are very welcome to apply.
The post holder will demonstrate a firm commitment to clinical governance, clinical audit and risk management by the development of systems to ensure the highest standards of patient care are achieved and maintained.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will have responsibility for inpatients, as part of a mega firm within the medical directorate. He/she will also have outpatient clinics on and off site. He/she will undertake a share of the administrative duties associated with the care of his/her patients, the running of the rheumatology department and the directorate.
The post holder will be part of the general medical on call rota which is currently 1 in 8 weekends and weekdays one in 16.
The post holder will be expected to participate in audit, under and postgraduate teaching.
The post holder will have continuing responsibility for the care of patients in his/her charge and for the proper functioning of the department with inpatient and outpatient commitments. He/she will undertake a share of the administrative duties associated with the care of his/her patients.
The post will also involve teaching and supervision of junior staff and involvement in teaching programmes within Wexham Park and within local GP surgeries.
The appointee will have access to a clinical admin and booking team, dedicated office space plus full IT facilities.
Audit is carried out on one half day per month throughout the hospital.

The post holder will join four full time consultant General Physician / Rheumatologists and 1 full time, 2 part-time pure Rheumatologists.
