Job summary

We are looking for a Clinical Specialist to join our team at Wexham Park. This autonomous role will involve carrying a caseload, teaching and service development alongside leading a small specialist team.

The Physiotherapy service provides a structured Appraisal & Supervision process which actively promotes CPD, both internal and external training. On a recent survey over 80% of staff report they have access to funding for external courses and we are keen to support further specialist training/ courses. We want to support any applicants who are looking at moving into a Clinical Specialist role for the first time.

Main duties of the job

This Clinical Specialist role is to be the Clinical Lead for ward based Respiratory services which are based within the Medical footprint at Wexham Park Hospital. The team consists of this B7 Clinical Specialist role alongside a Static B6, rotational B6, rotational Band 5 & B3.

The Clinical Specialist role will be solely focusing on the Respiratory services in both clinical and non- clinical aspects. The post holder will be expected to carry a clinical caseload across the Respiratory Ward and MADU alongside providing support for complex Respiratory patients. The post holder will lead on clinical audits, research, and service improvement projects alongside the team. This post will also deliver Simulation training sessions, provide in-service training and alongside the ITU Team Lead be responsible for the on call and weekend working rota.

This post will work closely with the Respiratory matron to ensure close MDT working and the implementation of new/ improved pathways such as NIV weaning, colomycin and hypertonic saline nebs, Respiratory nurse training and chronic condition management.

This post would be split roughly to include 80% Clinical time and 20% non- clinical time.
