Job summary

Are you a physiotherapist who enjoys working in an inpatient environment but also likes outpatients?

If you answered YES then this is the perfect job for you!

This role combines working on the private patient unit at WPH called Parkside which has a unique patient cohort from all inpatient specialities such as elective orthopaedics, general surgery and general medicine. Working on the Parkside unit provides a diverse caseload and variation of clinical assessment and treatment. Due to the diverse caseload sometimes patients require respiratory assessment and treatment, due to this there is a requirement to be oncall competent and participate in the respiratory oncall rota. This post holder would also be expected to participate in the orthopaedic weekend rota at Wexham Park Hospital.

The role would also include working in virtual fracture clinic and providing care to patients who have had a fracture. This involves working closely with the orthopaedic multidisciplinary team, alongside trauma orthopaedic nurses and consultants.

This role would sit within the orthopaedic physiotherapy team at Wexham Park Hospital and have support from the orthopaedic team lead and Parkside lead therapist who is cross site. The successful candidate would also have support from the outpatient team at Wexham Park hospital.

Main duties of the job

This role will prioritise and cover the case load of patients on the private unit at Wexham Park Hospital. The Private unit is called Parkside and has 15 beds. The caseload is varied and you would be expected to assess and treat patients who have had an elective orthopaedic procedure, general surgery, or has been admitted with a medical complaint. This also involves discharge planning and referring on to other services. The majority of patients on the Parkside Unit are privately funded patients but there is also NHS patients within the ward. Some patients post operatively require respiratory assessment and due to this the successful candidate would need to be respiratory competent and work on the on call rota.

The other aspect of this role is virtual fracture clinic where you would have a minimum of one clinic per week covering this service.
