Job summary

Frimley Health have an exciting new opportunity for a Nurse to Lead the nurse Led Colposcopy service and progress the development of a team of nurse colposcopists.

We are looking for a motivated and ambitious nurse to join our senior nursing team with the knowledge and experience of the colposcopy service and the national screening requirements set out by NHS England and the NHS Cervical Screening Programme. Strong leadership and excellent communication skills are key to this role as you will be expected to network and work collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders to influence the trust and local population by complying with the NHS Cervical Screening Programme.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the colposcopy service and will be actively involved in colposcopy clinics. The individual will work closely with the Multidisciplinary Team including the Lead Clinician for Colposcopy, Operations Manager, Matron for Gynaecology, Heads of Midwifery and members of the gynaecology nursing and administration teams as well as outside agencies and women who use the colposcopy services at the trust.

The Colposcopy services are run at three hospital sites the main one being Heatherwood Hospital in Ascot which has just opened a new site with up-to-date facilities and equipment, the area covered included East Berkshire, Surrey and North East Hampshire.

There will be a requirement of the post holder to take responsibility for ensuring the Key Performance Indicators for this screening programme are met and are reported form both sites in a timely manner to the NHS Cervical Screening Programme. The individual will be expected to develop the colposcopy nursing workforce, which may entail setting up a training and development programme for nurses at the trust.

The post holder will report directly to the Operations manager, Head of Midwifery and Clinical Lead for Colposcopy. To fit this role, you must have Nursing and Midwifery Council Registration that is current and have exceptional clinical capability, experience of Colposcopy services and you will hold or be working towards a Master's degree in a related subject.
