Job summary

The Night Nurse Practitioner is a unique clinical role working from 19:30 to 07:30, 7 days a week, bringing a broad spectrum of experience, knowledge, and advanced nursing skills. The role has been devised to deliver multi-professional models of service delivery across the trust, emphasising multi-professional working to generate sustainable solutions to increasing workforce planning challenges.

NNP's are versatile healthcare professionals, managing complex and holistic clinical care for their patients across a variety of clinical areas. Their level of practice is characterised by high levels of autonomous decision making including the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients with complex multi-dimensional problems. Decisions are made using expert knowledge and skills, including the authority to refer, admit and discharge within appropriate clinical areas.

This opportunity is a 9 month secondment to cover maternity leave. Ideally candidates will need to be available from September.

Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced senior Health Care Professional (HCP) to join our dynamic Night Nurse Practitioner (NNP) team at Wexham park hospital, facilitating clinical expertise and collaborative working throughout the trust.

The NNP team works in partnership with both medical and surgical directorates out of hours and is at the forefront of clinical leadership, providing an array of advanced clinical skills and expertise.

As an NNP you will develop professional autonomous working, conducting comprehensive clinical assessments and examination, synthetising clinical findings to aid clinical decision-making skills to formulate and implement appropriate treatment.

Applications are welcomed from registered nurses and other allied HCP's who meet the personal specification. For candidates who do not already hold a formal qualification, this would be a Band 6 development role, working towards Band 7 following completion of core competencies, training and education necessary for the role.
