Job summary
Are you passionate about helping people recover at home after a hospital stay? Our Home First service in Brighton is seeking caring, motivated Health & Therapy Assistants to join our team.
The Home First service brings together nurses, paramedics, therapists, and health and therapy assistants to work with the acute Multi-Disciplinary Team & Transfer of Care Hubs to promote an efficient, effective discharge from hospital to the patient's own home.
We provide a 7-day service, 365 days a year, between 8am and 8pm. Patients discharged into Home First receive step-down intermediate care.
Where required, Home First delivers acute reablement for up to 10 days. During this time, we help people achieve functional goals and regain independence.
As a Health & Therapy Assistant, you'll play a vital role, providing hands-on support and encouragement to help people rebuild their confidence and independence.

Main duties of the job
As a Health and Therapy Assistant you will be providing personal, health and therapy care for people across Sussex with acute and diverse needs.Your day will be varied and interesting, supporting people to achieve greater independence in their daily lives.
You will assist multi-disciplinary colleagues in the ongoing assessment and provisionof care and reablement as prescribed within the personalised care plan. This includes simple clinical and therapeutic procedures such as taking physical observations, venepuncture, administeringmedications, simple wound care, rehabilitation programmes and equipmentprovision. You will observe changes in peoples' status and keep your team informed through verbal updates and accurate record keeping.
You don't need previous experience; we'll train you on the job, supporting you to be the best that you can be. Your training as a Health and Therapy Assistant will include basic nursing and therapy skills and we'll support you to achieve the Care Certificate. Through our comprehensive competency framework we will support you to achieve continuous development.
With experience and further training, you could further your career in health care opening opportunities to train as aNursing Associate. With the appropriate qualifications and experience,you could also go on to train as one of the many degree-level healthcare professionals such as a Nurse, Podiatrist, Midwife or Therapist.
