We are recruiting for an experienced Reporting Sonographer (3 years post graduate experience) to join our team providing Community Radiology Services at Bognor Regis War Memorial Hospital. The post is full-time, however the service is happy to consider part-time hours, job share and flexible working arrangements.As a skilled Reporting Sonographer you will provide a caring and compassionate imaging service at the heart of the community. You need to be able to work independently, demonstrating a high level of competence and will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills. The post holder will be supported in their work by a Image Support Worker; and the ideal candidate should be skilled in general, gynae and small parts ultrasound. Experience in vascular scanning (DVT) would also be an advantage. CPD is supported and the post holder will participate in regular peer review meetings and audit with an external NHS provider. The post holder will also support the leadership, supervision and line management of a team of: Radiographers, Sonographers, Image Support Workers and Administrators.
Main duties of the job
To undertake a range of ultrasound examinations in line with local, regional and National guidelines. To undertake and organise own workload, assessing and reporting Ultrasound examinations to determine pathology. To be responsible for the justification of Ultrasound requests. To communicate with patients, clients and visitors in a polite and respectful manner reflecting their level of understanding and taking into account any barriers. To communicate and liaise with all members of the multidisciplinary team in a polite and professional manner relating to patient management and care. To notify the referrer of any abnormal findings in an appropriate manner within guidelines. To be able to work independently within a clearly defined set of departmental protocols and make informed clinical decisions in the absence of a Radiologist. To support the leadership, supervision and line management of a team of: Radiographers, Sonographers, Image Support Workers and Administrators. To undertake any other duties at the request of the line manager which are commensurate with the role, including project work internal job rotation and absence cover.
