Job summary

The Matron will play a key role in leadership of the intermediate care unit teams as part of the clinical management team within the area and will support the General Manager to ensure the delivery of quality care. They will be responsible and accountable for the direct delivery of care within intermediate care unit services ensuring effective professional nursing leadership and pro-active resource management.

As an experienced practitioner, the post holder will be expected to create an environment of continuous quality improvement, developing clinical practice and ensuring that delivery of care is regularly reviewed embedding the CQC agenda.

Key Responsibilities will include contributing to the strategic development within the area, maximising human and financial resources and the delivery of the Key Performance Indicators as identified including effective and efficient patient flow through the intermediate care units. This will be supported by high quality communications with all groups of staff.

Main duties of the job

Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust is a large Community Trust which is proud to provide extensive services across Brighton & Hove, West Sussex and part of East Sussex.

As part of these services SCFT have a number of Intermediate Care Units which provide both step down and step up care in our local communities.

Our teams include trained nurses, healthcare assistants, rehabilitation support workers, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, medical staff, Advanced nurse practitioners, visiting pharmacists and in reach services from other healthcare and social care professionals.

We are now looking to recruit a Locality Matron to provide the leadership and governance oversight to three of our units based in Haywards Heath, Horsham and Worthing.
