Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Nurse or a Physiotherapist to become a Senior Respiratory Practitioner in the West Sussex COPD Team (Horsham)

As a Senior Respiratory Practitioner, you would be supporting the leadership of an excellent and well-established team. The COPD Team is multi-disciplinary and provides holistic assessment and treatment to COPD patients in both the community and outpatient setting including Oxygen Assessment and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.

Main duties of the job

To support the running of the Oxygen Service and / or Pulmonary Rehabilitation Programme within the Team.

Using advanced specialist skills be responsible for assessing the physical and psycho-social needs of people with COPD, initiating the appropriate therapeutic care plans and treatment.

To achieve the effective daily management of a caseload, prioritising clinical work and balancing other related and professional activities in accordance with departmental standards.

Identify and participate in opportunities and cross-professional training and organisation of service to patients / carers.

To maintain Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and incorporate into your work including active participation in the supervision process.

Supervising members of staff as appropriate and facilitating their development and performance.

Essential

  • Currently registered with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Physiotherapist or Nursing & Midwifery Council as a Nurse.
  • Post registration qualification or training to Masters level or equivalent, or be willing to undertake

Desirable

  • Advanced Physical assessment course or Masters level module
  • Mentoring course or equivalent or Qualified Practice Assessor
  • Recognised Leadership Qualification

Experience

  • Experience in clinical case management
  • Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team
