An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the Facilities department at Brighton General Hospital, Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust. Ensure the high departmental standards are maintained and regularly audited and be able to assess work loads and prioritise effectively .
We are looking for a Full time Supervisor who is hard working, committed, and thrives in a team environment, able to look after a variety of Health Centres in Brighton & Hove
You will be part of a 2 person rota covering 5 days per week, 8am - 8pm (Monday to Friday)
Main duties of the job
Facilities Supervisor - 37.5 hours per week
We currently have a vacancy for a highly motivated individual within our Facilities Team, which covers the housekeeping at Brighton General Hospital and to include the surrounding Health Centres. You must be able to work on your own initiative and have excellent communication skills. You will ensure the high departmental standards are maintained and regularly audited and be able to assess work loads and prioritise effectively .You will have ideally come from a facilities background, or have experience of monitoring staff. You will be part of a 2 person rota covering 5 days per week, 8am - 8pm
You will need to lead and motivate your team ensuring a high quality, professional service is delivered to patients and staff at all times.
Driving licence is essential

Job responsibilities
- Supervise and assist Facilities staff in carrying out their duties.
- Providing cover for Facilities staff where required. This may include working at other SCFT sites.
- Ensure staff are aware of the duties and standards required and maintain them. Ensure all routine and ad hoc work is carried out correctly and appropriately.
- Lead and motivate staff ensuring performance of staff is monitored and reviewed using Trust Supervision/Appraisal process.
- Assist in the recruitment, induction, development and training of staff.
- Where necessary, manage duty rosters for staff and arrange adequate cover throughout the shifts within agreed rotas in conjunction with the Facilities Team Leader/Manager.
- Ensure that patients, staff and visitors are courteously assisted and directed in a pleasant manner.
- Report complaints and compliments promptly to Line Manager.
- Provide regular reports such as audit scores, safeguarding, staff issues, training etc. to Line Manager on aspects of the services as agreed.
- Carry out regular audits in line with the National Standards of Cleanliness as requested by the Line Manager.
- Assist in maintaining levels of staff discipline and timekeeping. Report any concerns to the relevant Facilities Management.
- Monitor the collection and transportation of waste in accordance with the requirements of the Trusts Policies and Procedures.
- Ensure that all relevant Trust policies and procedures are adhered to.
- Monitor a Planned Preventative Maintenance programme for all equipment. Report any defects to equipment or maintenance issues following departmental procedures.
- Day to day monitoring of contracted services.
- Be proficient in the use of Word Processing packages, Word, Excel, Power Point, the Trusts Intranet and E-mail, Oracle, Citrix & iPROC systems.
- Ensure that the Facilities first aid box is adequately stocked.
- Ensure all staff have the correct uniform whilst on duty and comply with the Trust Uniform Policy.
- Raise, process & receipt all purchase orders for the Department as requested, maintaining adequate stock levels.
- Ensure you and your staff attend training courses as directed.
- Undertake departmental risk assessments and instruct and train staff on safe use of work equipment and monitor progress.
- Responsible for the dispatch, receipt & distribution of all post & deliveries both internal and external.
- Be aware of & comply with the Departmental & Trusts Emergency Procedures.
- Undertake Fire Warden duties as necessary and according to site.
- Set up meeting/training rooms as required.
- Assist with the onsite movement of work furniture & equipment where necessary.
- Carry out such other duties as may be required to ensure the smooth and efficient provision of the Facilities Department.
- Adopt a flexible approach, you may be required to work in any unit within the Trust.
