Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust (SCFT) are excited to be recruiting an Operational Support Officer for the Discharge Hub, based at the Royal Sussex County Hospital. The role will provide business and administrative support to the Senior Hospital Discharge Hub Coordinator and their team members.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who will support the Senior Hospital Discharge Hub Coordinator on the escalation calls, produce reports/data as required and maintain and coordinate the dashboard for the discharge hub, collating updates, actions and comments from the multidisciplinary team (MDT).

Qualifications and/or Professional Registration

Essential

  • Educated to A Level or equivalent
  • IT qualification or evidence of equivalent training / skill

Desirable

  • Management qualification (diploma / NVQ4) or proven equivalent training and experience
  • Medical Terminology
  • Trained on computerised TIARA electronic data management , Patient Administration and Waiting List Systems
  • Knowledge of effective waiting list management
  • Ability to undertake additional training as required in post on new and updated systems
  • Evidence of on-going relevant CPD to degree equivalent

Experience

Essential

  • Proven NHS administration experience
  • Experience of working in a busy environment and meeting deadlines

Desirable

  • Significant experience managing waiting lists for acute based patients
  • Use of computerised and manual record systems
  • Data analysis and reporting
  • Previous managerial experience, managing and developing staff

Skills and Knowledge

Essential

  • Excellent communication skills, able to interact effectively with patients, carers, staff and external contacts at all levels
  • Able to use own initiative & work within a team
  • Good organisational and workload prioritisation skills
  • Excellent telephone manner, Keyboard / IT Skills

Desirable

  • Knowledge and understanding of national targets relating to discharges
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and procedures
  • Good working knowledge of Trust Policies and relevant legislation e.g. data protection, health and safety

  • Able to deal calmly and professionally with difficult situations / individuals
