Job summary

The Clinical Nursing Complex Lead is a new post at Chailey Clinical Services. We are looking for an innovative, dynamic nurse with advanced skills and knowledges eager to improve the lives of children and young people with complex Neurodisability.

Would you welcome the opportunity to hold your own independent clinical case load based on your specialist area of expertise, carrying out clinical nursing assessments and interventions, management of referrals, health promotion and service improvement?

At Chailey Clinical Services, our multidisciplinary team provide specialist care to children and young people with complex, often fluctuating health needs in Bluebells our residential short breaks service and our Residential School Nursing Team provide support to pupils and residents run by our partner organisation, Chailey Heritage Foundation.

Main duties of the job

To ensure all children and young people receive nursing care promoting a valued lifestyle and independence, ensuring their cultural, ethnic and religious needs are met and helping them lead full and happy lives.

The post holder will utilise their advanced and specialist expertise in clinical nursing care, research, audit and practice development to support health promotion and health maintenance, working collaboratively and inclusively with children and young people and their families.

This role will focus on assessment and management of new referrals and the assessment of the complex care needs of the cohort of children and young people. The post holder will lead and support the team in co-ordinating the admission and discharge process, includes assisting with prioritisation and ensuring equity of caseloads.

The Complexity Lead will act as the clinical lead for the delivery of quality, clinical nursing care, support, information and advice underpinned by a commitment to continuous improvement and service development.

  • Registered nurse-Child/Learning Disability/Adult, with current NMC registration
  • Relevant nursing degree- e.g. BSc/MSc Specialist Practice Community Health/Specialist Practitioner Children's Community Nurse/Children's Nurse Practitioner
  • Physical assessment of children/young people at level 6/7 or equivalent or willing to undertake
  • EN998/mentorship module or equivalent
  • Other relevant advanced nursing qualifications at level 6/7 e.g. Palliative & Complex Care, Advance Communication Safeguarding
