Job summary
We are excited to offer an opportunity for a Special School Nurse to join our West Sussex Special School Nursing team, based at Fordwater School in Chichester.
This post is full time, term time only, however hours are negotiable. The Special School Nurse will be responsible for the provision, planning, implementing and evaluation of nursing care for the children/young people, attending Fordwater School. They will also be responsible for training and education of school staff to attain competence when providing the day to day care for the pupils. The post requires a flexible, motivated, enthusiastic individual who is a keen team player and can evolve the role to suit the needs of the children attending the schools.
Experience of working as a Special School Nurse in a special school environment would be desirable for this role.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work as a Special School Nurse with an allocated caseload at Fordwater School in Chichester , as part of the school's requirement to ensure that arrangements are in place to support children and young people with medical conditions.
The post holder will provide clinical and associated public health nursing of children and young people in the special school setting, in partnership with Community Pediatricians and other health professionals to ensure the provision of high quality health care. They will liaise with clinical experts for the provision of specialist knowledge, skills and leadership as required
