Facilities Assistant - Chef
Band 2 £22,383 pro rata Zachary Merton Hospital
We are looking for a Facilities Assistant - Chef, to join us at Zachary Merton Hospital, working 30 hours over a two-week rota, with enhancements for weekend working.
To work as an integral part of the ward/departmental team, with a flexible approach within the Facilities Department.
This role includes preparing paperwork from the menus and completing all relevant paperwork in the regeneration of cooked food for patients together with the preparation of sandwiches and salads.
To ensure strict adherence to all policies and procedures in relation to food hygiene, including HACCP, personal hygiene and cleaning down procedures.
Performing cleaning duties as required in all areas to the required standard and complying with legislation.
Previous experience would be an advantage, but not essential as training will be provided.

Carry out all cooking for all patient needs in line with the prepared numbers.
Carry out the preparation of salads and sandwiches and any other food items as required.
To ensure strict adherence to all policies and procedures in relation to food hygiene, including HACCP, personal hygiene and cleaning down procedures.
Clean all food preparation surfaces using appropriate methods
Ensure hard floors are cleared and mopped daily.
Ensure that waste bins are emptied, clean and replenished.
Clean equipment after cooking and maintain equipment in a clean and serviceable condition.
Report faults to maintenance and follow up. Escalate to Supervisor, team leader or manager if necessary.
Maintain and respect the privacy and dignity of patients whilst carrying out Facilities duties.
Support and deputise for supervisor in checking staff rota, sickness and annual leave.
Order catering stock in supervisors absence and undertake stock take on a quarterly basis.
Replenish consumables paper towels, soap, toilet rolls etc.
Adopt a flexible approach, as you may be required to work at any Trust site.
Ensure the correct and safe storage of all items.
Receive deliveries of goods, check temperatures and storage.
Liaise with Facilities Supervisor to use of electrical cleaning equipment.
To report H&S issues to supervisor and ensure security is maintained at all times.
Completion of departmental paperwork as required.
Assist with the service of patient, visitors and staff meals.
Ensure that food presentation, portion control, temperature and quality standards are adhered to.
