Job summary

If you are, we are looking for you to join our very well-respected medicines management team to lead as well as help shape, the delivery of a high quality and effective medicines management service to our Intermediate Care Units (adult inpatient bedded units) and on supporting the development of our junior pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. We are using Electronic Prescribing & Medicines Administration (EPMA) within our Intermediate Care Units (training will be provided). You will be expected to line manage pharmacy staff. You will attend multidisciplinary meetings such as the Trust's Medicines Safety and Governance Group and be the medicines management representative on other multidisciplinary groups.

The full time hours are 37.5 hours per week (generally 'office' hours). We are open to discussing other flexible working a arrangements but will require you to work a minimum 22.5 hours a week over 3 days as well as hybrid working and/or split roles within the Trust. The base is listed as Rustington but we are flexible around base.

Main duties of the job

You will work with other pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and assistants, as well as other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of a high quality and effective medicines management service to all our adult inpatient bedded units. You will be involved in the development of pharmacy staff and service to the bedded units. You will require excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills, together with good clinical skills and knowledge. The ability to travel within the Trust's foot-print is essential.

About us

The Medicines Management team is ambitious for its service and staff. We are supporting foundation pharmacist trainees and pre-registration pharmacy technicians. We have supported some of our pharmacists to gain a prescribing qualification or management qualifications.The Medicines Management Team provides input into a range of medicines optimisation services including to Rheumatology, Children and Young People and Pro-active care, Medicines Optimisation in Care Homes, Virtual Wards and this supports developmental and learning as well as progression opportunities.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Masters degree MPharm
  • Registered pharmacist (1 year competency assessed and examined) professional registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) UK.
  • Mandatory CPD to maintain fitness to practice in line with GPhC UK requirements
  • Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent

Desirable

  • MSc in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent
  • Practice Supervisor course or similar
  • Non-Medical Prescriber

Experience

Essential

  • At least 5 years relevant post-registration experience
  • Providing clinical pharmacy services within an acute setting or similar setting with direct patient contact.
  • Delivering training to healthcare professionals
  • Clinical audits. Full audit cycle. Plan, organise the collection of data, analyse data, findings, recommendations and audit report writing. Follow-ups
  • Experience of writing policies, procedures and protocols
  • Broad specialist clinical pharmacy knowledge
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of working in multi-disciplinary team
  • Ability to demonstrate evidence of working in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Experience of implementing clinical governance and continuous improvement.
  • Developing and delivering medicines management training to other healthcare professionals.
