Job summary

To manage, lead and be responsible for the Quality, Safety & Patient Experience Team and Clinical Audit team within Velindre Cancer Service (VCS).

To ensure the Velindre Cancer Service adheres to the Trusts quality and safety framework.

To lead the Quality, Safety and Governance elements of OECI accreditation for VCS.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will lead the Velindre Cancer Service's (VCS) Quality & Safety Team and be accountable for ensuring delivery of systems to ensure VCS adheres to the Trusts Quality and Safety Framework.

The postholder will lead the Clinical Aduit team and be directly responsible for all quality and safety elements when working towards the OECI (Organisation of European Cancer Institutes) accreditation of VCS.

Support the Velindre Cancer Service Triumvirate to effectively execute their Quality, Safety & Assurance responsibilities, through supporting the Division and Directorate teams within VCS. All concerns will be managed according to the Putting things Right Process / Listening to People.

Be the clinical lead for VCS in all aspects of clinical governance in relation to claims, redress, inquests and concerns. Provide assurance for Divisional Board in relation to Quality & Safety metrics.

Essential

  • Operational management of an NHS Complaints and Claims service or operating within regulations and quality frameworks and best practice.
  • Leading on matters relating to claims, redress, inquests and concerns, often of a complex or sensitive nature
  • Evidence of Leadership courses achieved and/or be able to demonstrate significant experience working at a senior level and providing leadership to a team of staff.

Desirable

  • Management of Risk Management module on Datix

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree or equivalent qualification or specialist professional knowledge in a legal, patient safety or management discipline.
  • Have a professional clinical registration (NMC, HCPC, RCT)
  • Thorough, demonstrable understanding of the 'Putting Things Right' Wales Regulations.

Desirable

  • Legal Practice Course (LPC) or equivalent.

  • Ability to deliver required pieces of work within agreed timeframes.
  • Ability to cope with the demands resulting from major change initiatives.
  • Ability to confidently present reports and information to Board/Committee meetings.
