Job summary

Are you an experienced oncology nurse who has a proven record of leadership, influence and enhancing the delivery of high-quality systemic anti-cancer therapy services? Velindre Cancer Centre is seeking an exceptional Senior Nurse for SACT Services to join our SACT & Medicines Management Leadership Team.

This is a pivotal role providing visible, expert nursing leadership to ensure the safe, effective and person-centred delivery of SACT. You will use your advanced clinical knowledge, strong professional judgement and strategic insight to shape service delivery, strengthen governance, and champion continuous improvement across our SACT pathways within Velindre Cancer Centre and Outreach Units.

Working closely with senior nurses, pharmacists, the wider MDT and national stakeholders, you will lead on developing new patient pathways, quality assurance measures and all-Wales service development initiatives. You will also provide direct line management and offer expert clinical support, including participation in the operational out-of-hours rota.

We are looking for a motivated, compassionate and innovative nurse leader with:

  • Significant oncology nursing experience
  • Evidence of advanced clinical assessment skills
  • Proven experience in service improvement, change management and cross-boundary working
  • Strong communication, leadership and coaching abilities
  • A commitment to evidence-based practice and high-quality patient care

Main duties of the job

The Senior Nurse for SACT is managerially and professionally responsible for the safe delivery of SACT for patients. They will work under the operational management of the Head of SACT and Medicines Management and the professional leadership of the Head of Nursing.

The post holder will be part of the SACT and Medicines Management Leadership Team, working collaboratively with other nurse and multi-disciplinary teams to assure the VCC Senior Management Team that robust governance and performance management are in place to deliver high quality person centred care and services for patients.

The post holder will be responsible for providing effective, visible nursing leadership and management actively contributing to highly complex clinical, operational and strategic decision making with regards to SACT services.

The post holder will develop new patient pathways, quality assurance measures and represent Velindre Cancer Centre on an all Wales basis.

The post holder will have direct line management of the senior nurses within the SACT delivery service.
